T erra&Vini, a combination of an inn and tavern in the village of Brazzano, a small outlying district of Cormòns, is a modern, stylish and elegant interpretation of the older traditional Friulan osterias of the past.
Created by careful restructuring of a long-established Friulian hostelry in the heart of Gorizia’s Collio zone, Terra&Vini offers a welcoming, relaxed country atmosphere. It is the ideal setting for a meal or a glass of fine wine, complemented by the alluring charm of an elegant posting house hotel with eight invitingly spacious suites for guest accommodation.
Terra & Vini is nestled among ancient chestnut trees, making it the perfect place to enjoy good company and conversation, a glass of the great wines of Friuli, while discovering the flavours of Friuli’s traditional cuisine and typical products.
T erra & Vini is part of Brazzano’s history. It has been the village’s “osteria” since the 19th century, and anyone who knows our part of the world will appreciate that this makes it the heart of the local community.
The charm of the ancient buildings has been maintaned. The original stone of the walls has been restored to view and many of the original furnishings have been preserved, including an advertising mirror that has hung in the same spot for more than half a century.
Food, hospitality, fine wines and smiling staff make Terra & Vini an inviting setting in which to relax over lunch or just spend an evening.
The kitchen reinterprets the traditional menu of an old-time Friulian “osteria”, by exhaulting the bounty of the seasons and the products of the local landscape. Glasses of finest wines accompany selections of Friulian cheeses, such as the “caciotte” of local producer Zoff, Formadi Frant, Asìno, Sot la Trape, Fagagna and Montasio, along with tasting portions of cold meats and hams, like the slightly smoked D’Osvaldo “prosciutto”.
The blackboard behind the bar lists wines available by the glass and the dish of the day, which might be goulash with polenta, Potato Gnocchi with meat sauce, Polenta from Socchieve with winter radicchio, Rosa di Gorizia. During spring the typical dishes are omelettes with wild herbs, white asparagus from Cormons, Ortisons and Vegetable flans.
In summer, Terra & Vini opens onto a private courtyard behind the main building which offers a fine view of the vineyards.
T he combination of dark wood floors and field stone walls continues, but essential furnishings and high tech are elegantly balanced; steel and crystal shelves hold the wines of Livio Felluga and others of the best wines of the most famous regional wineries and a careful selection of regional products like Collio honey, Grappa and special cookies and sweets to accompany wine.
La Bottega also offers the possibility to browse and buy photo books on the wine world, guides and a selection of novels set in Friuli.
