Terra & Vini is part of Brazzano’s history. It has
been the village’s “osteria” since the 19th
century, and anyone who knows our part of the world will appreciate
that this makes it the heart of the local community.
Elda Felluga has decided to start Brazzano’s heart beating again,
maintaining intact the charm of the ancient buildings. The original
stone of the walls has been restored to view, the historic underground
cellar has been made over and many of the original furnishings
have been preserved, including an advertising mirror that has
hung in the same spot for more than half a century.
Food, hospitality,
fine wines and smiling staff make Terra & Vini an inviting
setting in which to relax over lunch or just spend an evening.
After food, hospitality...
The kitchen, under the direction of chef Marco Boccotti, reinterprets
the traditional menu of an old-time Friulian “osteria”,
by exhaulting the bounty of the seasons and the products of the
local landscape. Glasses of the finest wines accompany selections
of Friulian cheeses, such as Formadi Frant, Asìno, Sot
la Trape, Fagagna and Montasio, along with tasting portions of
cold meats and hams, like the slightly smoked D’Osvaldo “prosciutto”,
Pitina and the goose-based delicacies of Jolanda de Colò.
The blackboard behind the bar lists wines available by the glass
and the dish of the day, which might be goulash with bread dumplings,
soft polenta and goose stew, omelettes, white Gorizia asparagus
or boiled pork. Tripe is a fixture on Thursdays and fish, especially
salt cod, features on Fridays.
In summer, Terra & Vini opens
onto a secluded courtyard behind the main building to offer a
fine view of the vineyards.
